NIV Audio Bible, MP3 CD Complete and Unabridged read by David Suchet
Want a new way to bring the Bible to life?
Told with gusto by David Suchet, this is a Bible that truly breathes
A great resource for anyone struggling to read the Bible
David Suchet's new audio reading of the Bible gives you the entire NIV Bible from Genesis to the Revelation in the much loved, award-winning actor's deep, melodic and restfully unrushed voice.
This 78 hour, 752,702 word recording presented on just 6 MP3 CDs is the distillation of more than 200 hours studio times and David Suchet's own spiritual journey that began with his reading of a Bible in a hotel room in 1968.
Most famous now for his role as Agatha Christie's Belgian super detective, Hercule Poirot, the Sandford St Martin's Trust award winner's actor portrayal is loved in more than 100 countries by an estimated 600-700 million viewers.
NIV publishers in the UK, Hodder Stoughton, say it is the first time a single British actor of this stature has taken on presenting the Bible's entire text as an audio recording. Speaking for the Biblica consortium who backed the NIV audio Bible project, Hodder Faith director Ian Metcalfee said: "I am delighted the whole thing came together. It is amazing, just having David Suchet is transformatory... It is a labour of love, and so much of a benefit to everyone".
The gifted actor has made a gift of his recording to Bible readers everywhere by donating his 200-hour recording fee to charity. The whole project is David's idea following a letter from a blind woman whose life had been transformed by his earlier recording of St John's gospel. And for people who love him for other things, for Poirot, this recording is a wonderful gift opportunity for Bible readers to introduce others to the scriptures too.
